Gmail App For iPhone, iPad And iPod Touch Is Here, Again

On Wednesday, Google announced that it had relaunched its official

app, after launching and almost immediately removing it due to

glitches earlier this month.

Product Manager Matthew Izatt wrote on the Official Gmail Blog:

    Two weeks ago, we introduced our Gmail app for iOS.

Unfortunately it contained a bug which broke notifications and

displayed an error message, so we removed it from the App Store.

We’ve fixed the bug and notifications are now working, and the app

is back in the App Store.

At the time of the original launch, the Gmail blog said the app,

which can be used on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, was optimized for

speed, efficiency and touch.

According to The Huffington Post's Jason Gilbert, the app's most

important new feature is speed: "It brings "push notifications" for

Gmail to iDevices for the first time, meaning that you can now be

notified the moment a new message hits the Gmail servers, just by

glancing at the screen of your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch."

The app is now available for download in the iTunes store.

NBC has Hulu Plus. ESPN has WatchESPN. HBO is reportedly launching HBOGo next month.

Now a Sony Pictures has entered the fray of media-owners-with-video-streaming-apps, with Crackle, an iOS app that lets you stream full-length videos owned by Sony across your iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. For free. The catch is, of course, that an ad runs every few minutes.

To promote the launch, Sony has also inked exclusive content from Electronic Arts: a new Extended Gameplay Trailer for Battlefield 3.

Crackle's catalogue includes over 200 titles from Sony's network of production companies like Sony Pictures Classics, Columbia Pictures, TriStar Pictures, Screen Gems and others. At launch, Crackle offered the following highlights:

TV:
• Seinfeld
• Married... With Children
• Samurai X
• Starsky and Hutch

Movies:
• The Da Vinci Code
• Snatch
• Ghostbusters
• A Few Good Men

Furthermore, Sony said Crackle will only show the uncut, unedited versions of movies, which could be a boon for watching classics like "Dr. Strangelove" or "La Femme Nikita."

The app also contains features like video queue management, sharing content on social networks or email, and video playback. Sony will also add to the library on a regular basis, it said in its app description.

'World of Goo' launches for Apple devices

Studio 2D Boy has launched its stellar puzzle game World of Goo for Apple's iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch.

The goal of the game is to move as many balls of goo through a pipe as possible. Sometimes, players must build bridges out of goo to pass gaps or reshape the goo to move past obstacles.

World of Goo first launched on the Nintendo Wii through its WiiWare digital download service before migrating to PCs and Macs. The version for Apple devices will cost $2.99, but players who purchase the game within the next 24 hours can get it for 99 cents. There's also an HD version for iPad that costs $4.99.

There is an App from the internet that shows pages of a Fake Jailbreak presentation that shows the exact statements: “UNLOCK NOW FREE”, dont go into this page using your iOS devices, may it be an iPhone 4 or an iPad 2 because this will lead you to a 10-15 seconds of an animation followed by the text: “DOWNLOAD UNLOCK 2 NOW FREE”. When you see this, it will be too late because your information, both SIM and idevice information has already been cleared. If you are searching for a Jailbreak or unlock software for your iPhone 4 or iPad, do it on a desktop and now on your iOS device.

Apple confirms iPad 2 on track for March 25 international launch

Despite continued sellouts of the iPad 2 in the U.S., an Apple spokesperson has confirmed that the international launch of the touchscreen tablet will proceed as planned on Friday, March 25, a new report claims.

"Everything that is on [Apple's U.K.] website still holds true; the website says 25 March and that's when it'll be," an Apple spokesperson told TechRadar.com earlier this week.

Rumors that Apple would delay the international launch of the iPad 2 were fueled last week by immediate sellouts of new shipments of the device and long lines that continued in the week after launch. Last week, analyst Brian White of Ticonderoga Securities questioned whether Apple would be able to produce enough iPad 2 units to launch in more than two dozen countries this Friday after checks to several key Apple Stores.

Also stoking speculation of iPad 2 delays were reports of supply chain disruption caused by a massive earthquake in Japan that took place earlier this month. Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster told investors last week that the production status from Apple's Japanese-based component suppliers remained unclear, with many partners unable to accurately quantify the extent of their damage.

Late last week, a report from iSuppli identified five components in the Pad 2 that are likely sourced from Japan: NAND flash from Toshiba Corp., DRAM made by Elphida Memory Inc., an electronic compass from AKM Semiconductor, a touchscreen overlay glass likely from Asahi Glass Co. and a system battery from Apple Japan. The report noted that while some of the suppliers' facilities were undamaged, "delivery of components from all of these companies is likely to be impacted at least to some degree by logistical issues now plaguing most Japanese industries in the quake zone."

Apple announced last week that it is delaying the launch of the iPad 2 in Japan "while the country and [Apple's] teams focus on recovering from the recent disaster."

The iPad 2 is scheduled to go on sale March 25 in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the U.K. According to Apple, launch dates and pricing for further international launches will be announced at a later date.

Last year, overwhelming initial demand for the original iPad forced Apple to delay the first-generation tablet's international launch by a month. The company went on to sell 15 million iPads from April to December 2010.

iPad 2 Features Dual-Core Graphics for Retina Display, Report Says

As the anticipated announcement of an iPad refresh draws nearer, the tidbits of insider information are seeping out at faster rates.

Among the latest: a report that the next generation of the Apple iPad features a high-resolution Retina display, powered by a dual-core graphics chip. The high-resolution screen and faster GPU would allows the iPad 2 to play 1080p HD video, according to an AppleInsider report citing sources familiar with the matters.

The new graphics chip inside the yet-unannounced iPad 2 is said to pack four times the processing capability of the A4 chips in current iPads, iPhone 4, and Apple TV. The video chip would run alongside a multiple-core ARM Cortex A9 general-purpose processor inside the tablet. It is also possible Apple would extend the new graphics and processing chips to its entire line of iOS products, including the next-generation iPhone, iPod Touch, and Apple TV.

Besides the latest speculation on the processing power of the iPad 2, the next-generation tablet is rumored to also include dual cameras (one on the back with flash and one on the front for FaceTime), as well as a slimmer design and a larger speaker. Leaked photos allegedly depicting the display of the iPad 2 indicate that the tablet will also feature a high-resolution screen, exactly double the pixels of the current iPad (reaching 1536 by 800), in order to preserve compatibility with current apps.

Another hot iPad 2 rumor is that the tablet will feature a triple-mode wireless chip, which would allow it to run on either GSM + UMTS or CDMA networks, thanks to a Qualcomm chipset. This is unlike the current iPhone 4, which runs either on Verizon or AT&T, as they two different hardware models.  This triple-mode chip could also make its way on the next version of the iPhone, expected this summer.
